• Originally selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round, 29th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

• On May 30, 2006, the Flyers announced that they had signed Downie to a three-year entry-level contract.

• Downie made his long awaited National Hockey League debut with the Flyers on December 5, 2007 after a series of suspensions and stints with affiliate teams.

• Downie was traded by the Flyers to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2008, and then to the Colorado Avalanche in 2012.

• Downie is back with the Flyers as of October 31st, 2013.
